LIBERTY Steel Group (United Kingdom) - The Engineering Planner - Calibration Services position will manage and organise a team of Engineering Technicians providing Weighing maintenance and calibration services to the Speciality Steels business in Rotherham, Sheffield and occasionally further afield.

The position is an ideal starting point for an Engineer or Planner with ambition to develop a longer-term career in Industrial Engineering or for an experienced engineer to gain knowledge and experience in a new industry.

This role will contribute to the running of a truly unique metals recycling facility that turns scrap metal into materials for the future through electrical arc furnaces, casting machines, rolling mills and much more. This is a truly diverse manufacturing business looking to innovate traditional manufacturing processes for a more environmentally friendly world using green energy and recycling at its core.

About the Role:

Key to this role is the ability to develop schedules and coordinate different internal and external human resources, spares and equipment, to ensure we meet the requirements of our audited quality systems.

The role will coordinate repair services that need to bring multiple resources together to identify the problem, implement a solution and look to prevent reoccurrence.

Initially this service will focus on weighing machines, weighing equipment and the services that our dedicated team of weigh technicians provide. In time the intention is to widen the scope of services and responsibility once you have gained enough experience and knowledge.

The use of our ERP maintenance system, Calibration records system, job technical descriptions, and health and safety risk assessments provide some of the tools you will use to ensure services meet business requirements.

The Working environment varies from offices, workshops, manufacturing floors and outside areas.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in managing people in a teamworking environment.
  • An Engineering qualification or significant experience in Engineering operations.
  • Experience of planning and scheduling work preferably in an Engineering environment.
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Excellent organisational skills/time management/able to work to deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong IT skills.

Other experience that may be useful but not essential would be:

  • Operating a Calibration or quality system
  • Health and safety knowledge particularly of key tasks such as risk assessments
  • Procurement
  • Experience with Weighing equipment

For the successful candidate training will be provided to resolve any knowledge or skills gaps.
