Gerhart has an immediate opening for Automation Controls Engineer with PLC programming skills to be based from our Tatamy, PA Facility. This position revolves around the development and installation of small to medium size industrial control systems and material handling equipment.

This position will require the following Job Responsibilities:

• Electrical design and engineering of control panels and manufacturing equipment
• Documenting electrical and control-wiring schematics on a CAD system
• Design of control logic and control schematics
• Strong knowledge of ladder logic and relay logic
• PLC/HMI programming using Allen Bradley and Automation Direct PLCs
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems
• Develop operating manuals, IO lists, and troubleshooting guides for equipment
• Be available for on-call support after normal working hours when needed.
• Overnight travel will be required - typically 10-25%
• Excellent customer relations skills are essential.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in an Electrical/Automation Engineering discipline or a minimum of 5 years of hands on experience implementing industrial control systems.
• Strong Mechanical Aptitude
• Must have worked successfully on several automation projects in the manufacturing industry or as a system integrator. Be prepared to talk your way through examples of your work.
• Strong knowledge of automation techniques, machine control systems, programmable logic controllers, pneumatics and computer programming
• PLC programming skills is required, Allen Bradley and Automation Direct, knowledge of Visual Basic a plus, knowledge of Weighing Systems a plus. Must be able to use CAD software.
• Excellent trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
• Project management skills preferred
