FLSmidth (Vietnam) - Supported by P4G Partnerships, the ambition is to tackle the mounting waste issue in the country while greening its cement industry.
Vietnam is the third largest producer of cement worldwide. The country also has a mounting waste challenge. It produces about 70,000 tonnes of waste per day and 75% of that ends up in landfills.
That waste could be used as an alternative fuel in cement plants instead of fossil fuels, reducing landfills and its negative impacts on the environment. A win-win solution!
The partnership will address the waste value chain so that the waste can effectively reach the gates of the cement plants. It will initially focus on one specific plant but the ambition is to replicate that model across the country for greater impact.
