Quanmax NWA-400 Series: Network Security Appliance with Intel® Denverton Processor

Quanmax (Taiwan) - Entry-level platform suitable for virtualized network environments.

Quanmax, a well-known embedded computing technology provider, is excited to unveil a brand-new network security appliance, named NWA-400 Series, designed for SOHO (Small Office / Home Office), small business and home users to opt in for value-added security features, such as firewall / UTM / IPS / IDS protection, encryption for VPN, anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, web filtering, bandwidth management and / or load balancing, to their network from carriers and NaaS providers by using cloud-based virtual CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) model rather than dedicated hardware devices. Large enterprises can also deploy this appliance to their branch offices to remotely implement network security measures based on the similar virtualized architecture. NWA-400 Series is an ideal solution for applications or scenarios with limited financial and technical resources.

Faster and Securer Server-grade Entry-level Network Appliance:

To build such an entry-level device for budget-conscious and undermanned businesses, NWA-400 Series incorporates Atom C3338, a more value-oriented variant among Intel’s new-generation low-power server-grade Denverton SoC processors. Nevertheless, that does not discount the device’s networking services. Besides the enhancement in computing / network / storage performance and energy efficiency, the appliance supports Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT-x) and Intel AES New Instructions (Intel AES-NI) to accelerate virtualization and encryption workloads respectively. With DDR4 memory support up to 128 GB, it has sufficient responsiveness to high-volume network traffic stream and guarantees reliable network service. Also, a hardware-based TPM 2.0 security chip is integrated in partial models, providing securer encryption / authentication / identification techniques than a software-based solution.

Flexible Network Connectivity Options:

NWA-400 Series has four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, one mPCIe socket for WLAN (eg. Wi-Fi and WiGig) connection and one M.2 Key B socket for WWAN (eg. 3G, 4G and upcoming 5G) data communication. It delivers great variety, flexibility and scalability for network access and connectivity.

Smaller & Faster Storage Media:

To keep a compact and light body, NWA-400 Series abandons conventional SATA drives and offers an next-generation M.2 Key M slot to install an NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory express)-capable SSD. NVMe interface guarantees faster data access (around 4 to 6 times more effective than a conventional SATA port) and lower power consumption, which facilitates more reliable, seamless and nondisruptive services in a virtualized and software-defined infrastructure.

Excellent Reliability for 24/7 Operation:

The low-power NWA-400 Series is enclosed in a durable aluminum casing with passive cooling and cabless designs, which withstands vibration, makes dirt / dust stay outside the chassis and guarantees reliable silent operation. It can perform constantly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without fear of overheating or downtime.
