Due to continued growth and recent investment within the company, we are looking for an experienced Calibration Technician to join our growing team in Southampton.
This is a workshop-based role, where the successful applicant will operate on a full-time schedule, from Monday to Friday, 08:30 AM to 17:00 PM.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- To be able to Solder to IPC 610 soldering standards and a qualification or experience in this area will be essential. Must have the ability to demonstrate intricate soldering skills and have a distinct eye for detail.
- Be able to follow build instructions provided by the Engineering team and have the ability to understand wiring diagrams.
- Be able to verbally communicate with other workshop/office members of staff and report to the Operations Manager the status of jobs that have been allocated.
- Be able to communicate effectively and proactively with customers and suppliers who visit DLM’s premises.
- Training would be provided on DLM Products, their applications and function. After training has been provided, the successful applicant should be able to fault-find and repair DLM and OEM equipment.
- Relevant industry experience in PCB Assembly and Soldering. IPC 610 soldering qualifications would be a distinct advantage, but not essential.
- Basic understanding of computer systems for form creation and goods inward input.
- The effective conduct of the role will require an active engagement with and across all aspects of the company. Core to this will be strong people skills with the ability to interact with internal and external people at all levels.
- Typical personal attributes would include integrity, enthusiasm, personal drive, ownership, cultural awareness, openness, and a desire to continuously improve.
- Ability to travel both nationally and internationally. This may be required to calibrate DLM built / customer owner equipment. Whilst not frequent 1 or 2 opportunities could arise in a 12 month period. Travel to local/UK third party test sites to carry out calibration on DLM and OEM equipment.
The successful candidate’s job responsibilities will include:
- Contributing to the creation and implementation of policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance within the Production Department.
- Entering arriving customer equipment into the company’s M1 system on the day of arrival to ensure equipment is entered into the work schedule. Ensure all details entered are accurately inputted. Be able to follow the Calibration planner for work updates.
- Operating within the guidelines of DLM’s ISO9001 quality management system, ISO14001 Environmental management system and ISO18001 Health and Safety Management System.
- Working diligently to complete the weekly/daily tasks assigned by the Operations Manager in relation to your job role. Understand that these may shift in priority during the course of a week and be supportive of the flexible nature of the business and industry in which DLM operates.
- Working with the Operations team to achieve production targets.
- Working with 3rd party witnessing bodies for the purpose of customer-specific order requirements.
- Carrying out mechanical or electrical repairs to equipment as assigned by the Workshop Coordinator or Operations Manager.
- On completion of calibration, passing/scanning the results to the calibration coordinator for certificate creation.
- Applying applicable labels on equipment, showing the date of calibration or repair carried out and the next due date.
- Preparing equipment for onward shipment to the customer, ensuring it is packed in accordance with either customer packing procedures or DLM requirements.
