Configurable, safe small controllers PNOZmulti 2 with new Motion Monitoring functions - SLA-M and SAR-M for drives
Pilz GmbH & Co. KG (Germany) – For the Motion Monitoring modules PNOZ m EF 1MM and 2MM of the configurable small controller PNOZmulti 2, two new safety functions are now available for drive monitoring: For safely limited acceleration SLA-M and the safe acceleration range SAR-M. The new motion monitoring functions are available from software version 10.6 of PNOZmulti Configurator. They ensure additional safety and productivity at plants and machines.

Acceleration without risk:
The Motion Monitoring expansion modules offer safety functions in accordance with EN 61800-5-2 for safe motion monitoring. The SLA-M function safely monitors the maximum acceleration of the drive, if necessary preventing the motor from exceeding the defined acceleration limit. The SAR-M function ensures that the safely monitored acceleration remains within defined limit values. As a result, axis applications such as handling axes or spindle axes, can be safely monitored in all industries – including wind power.

Software that moves:
Configuration of all safety functions is performed in PNOZmulti 2 using the software tool PNOZmulti Configurator. Using the software tool makes it easy to define limit values and ranges. For the motion monitoring modules, a separate module program mIQ is configured that is then run locally on the module. Fine-granular configuration of several monitoring areas is possible. And with 256 additional connection lines, a larger application program is feasible. Also, the module program ensures the safe delayed shutdown also in case of an error of the base module. This way, the module program guarantees that the reaction time is significantly lowered.

Diverse functionality for safety:
The safely limited acceleration and the safe acceleration range complement the already existing safety functions Safe Stop 1 (SS1), Safe Stop 2 (SS2), Safe Speed Range” (SSR), Safe Speed Monitoring (SSM), and Safe Direction (SDI) and Safe Operating Stop (SOS). These functions are available from hardware version 2.2. and they guarantee a high availability of the drive application.

Various head modules for various tasks:
The Motion Monitoring module PNOZ m EF 1MM can monitor one axis, the PNOZ m EF 2MM monitors two axes. The modules signal the status of the monitored values to the base units. The values can be transferred to a higher-level controller via a fieldbus module. The expansion modules satisfy requirements of the EN IEC 61508 to SIL and the EN ISO 13849-1 to PL e. As a result, hazardous movements can be monitored easily and safely.
