Axians expands Industry Automation Solution VAS to the Road Building Sector
Axians (Germany) – Eurovia group optimises road construction logistics processes in 400 factories.

Axians is providing Eurovia, the leading European road construction group, with its Dispatch Automation System VAS. With a customised template, the asphalt specialist is optimising its logistics processes holistically, including company-specific procedures and seamless connection to its SAP system. In order to satisfy the requirements of the asphalt sector, Axians further developed their dispatch automation system with the know-how of parent group VINCI Energies. All Eurovia processes concerning the flow of money and goods are deposited in a universal template that applies globally to all factories. Country- and sector-specifics can be quickly introduced and activated, thus securing the transboundary standardisation of the goods movement processes.

Eurovia has already put VAS into operation at their site in Hoerdt, Alsace, and will roll out the solution in around 400 Eurovia factories in France by 2019, with support from Axians IAS (Industrial Application & Services). Further development of the template as well as use in other countries is already being planned.

With VAS, companies from the bulk material industry can completely control every shipping process of the material, from the incoming order to the delivery note. Goods movements are accessible at any time and incoming and outgoing processes can be standardised, thanks to the web-based solution.

“A global VAS template valid for all Eurovia factories automatically considers sector-specific or regional specifications that can be selected depending on the location. Thanks to the modular architecture of VAS, Eurovia can easily realise special requirements of the individual factories without deviating from the stardard concept. Companies can use VAS as a standard solution and individually adapt it with the help of the process consulting and implementation competences of the Axians experts. This approach promotes process optimisation and increases the overall degree of standardisation. That way Eurovia is able to implement the new system in 400 factories within a short period of time”, stated the company.

Philippe-Alexandre Schajer, CIO at Eurovia, explains: “We were convinced by the universal application capabilities of the solution. VAS covers all processes completely and has been in use for years in various languages – that’s an important requirement for a company that operates internationally. The IT experts at Axians know these demands and supported us in establishing a smooth information flow.”

Jens Büschl, Senior IT architect, accounts for the project at Axians. “As a part of the VINCI network we deliver industry and information know how from one provider. Thanks to our international expertise and resources, we can advise our customers individually and implement projects internationally and completely – from process consulting and design through to the technical implementation of the software as well as the factory rollout.”

In the next step, Eurovia plans to increase the degree of process automation further. Another VAS module will integrate self-service and signature functions to automatically regulate the organization and distribution of all occurring data from the divisions.

About VAS:
VAS – the process-orientated software solution for the raw materials industry - forms the entire process chain from delivery via dispatch and loading, right up to departure. As the link between ERP systems and technical systems, VAS represents the key function and the 'adjusting screw' for efficient process sequences. In addition, VAS supports reporting functions and supplies real-time information to further systems, for example for Production, Sales or Controlling. All external technical systems such as the weighing, silo or metering technology are completely integrated into the VAS logistics system processes. VAS is currently used in more than 200 plants worldwide within the raw materials industry.
