ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme
The ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme continues the ROG motherboard series for the AMD Ryzen 9000 generation, featuring an uncompromising set of features and a completely revamped design. Its powerful 20+2+2-phase power architecture ensures full compatibility with high-end processors like the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, even under extreme loads. Large VRM heatsinks maintain stable temperatures, while 8+8 ProCool II connectors deliver efficient and reliable power.
Aimed at experienced overclockers, it includes the Extreme OC kit with LN2 mode, a ReTry button for quick reboots during extreme overclocking sessions, a customizable FlexKey button, and multiple Probelt points for precise voltage monitoring.
The BIOS is packed with advanced overclocking tools such as AI Overclocking, AEMP (ASUS Enhanced Memory Profiles), and Dynamic OC Switcher, which toggles between multi-core overclocking and Precision Boost Overdrive depending on the workload. Features like Core Flex and AI Cache Boost — which accelerates large language model workloads by up to 12.75% — open new possibilities for creators and AI researchers.
NitroPath DRAM technology enhances signal quality and allows speeds up to 400 MT/s beyond normal, depending on system configuration.
For storage, the board features a PCIe® 5.0 M.2 slot supporting M.2 22110 modules and a tool-free installation system with M.2 Q-Release and M.2 Q-Latch. For networking, it includes 10Gb Marvell AQtion Ethernet, 5Gb Realtek Ethernet, and WiFi 7 (2x2) support with an ASUS WiFi Q Antenna, delivering speeds up to 6.5 Gbps.
ROG Crosshair X870E Apex
The new ROG Crosshair X870E Apex is designed for users aiming to push memory performance to the limit. It’s the first Apex series model to support AMD processors, continuing its legacy of competitive overclocking excellence.
With only two DIMM slots, it favors performance over capacity, enabling extreme memory speeds. LN2 mode is also present, designed for sessions using liquid nitrogen cooling.
A robust set of heatsinks with L-shaped heat piping covers the 18+2+2-phase power delivery and merges with the I/O panel to maximize heat dissipation. On the back of the motherboard, a metal backplate contributes to passive cooling and reinforces structural integrity.
The Apex also includes a ROG Memory Fan Kit, an accessory that directs airflow directly onto memory modules—essential for intense overclocking scenarios.
In terms of connectivity and expansion, the Apex is fully equipped: two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, three PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots, and additional support via a ROG DIMM.2 Card with two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots and four SATA 6Gbps ports. Tool-free installation stands out again thanks to the M.2 Q-Latch system.
It also includes WiFi 7, 5Gb Ethernet, and a wide range of ultra-fast USB ports for all kinds of peripherals.
